Adventures in Pregnancy: 32 Weeks

Another four weeks have flown by since my last update, and I feel like I've definitely hit a milestone in my pregnancy. I've passed the 30 weeks mark!

32 WEEKS

TRIMESTER: 3

OBLIGATORY BELLY PICTURE: There's no mistaking the bump...

BABY'S SIZE:  It's hard to believe that Baby C is approximately 19 inches long already and almost 4 pounds! She'll do just a bit more growing in length, but will be packing the weight on until the end.

GENDER: Remember how last update I said that I was having boy dreams and kept receiving comments about it being a boy. Well, they got to me enough to have a 3D ultrasound done this past week to confirm the sex. I'm happy to report that Baby C is (still) a girl! And a cute one at that!

SYMPTOMS: They haven't changed too much...
  • Weight gain. I continue to gain weight, almost daily. I seem to notice it mostly in my legs (and belly of course). My large legs have only gotten larger. Yikes!
  • Heartburn. Much better than my last update, but still occasionally there.
  • Still experiencing the round ligament pain during my walks to and from work. Sometimes it's pretty bad but not a daily thing.
  • My pace is definitely slowing down during my walks. But, I still pass a lot of people on my walk to work, so I'd say that's pretty good!
  • I'm happy to report that my acne, which was horrendous about a week ago, has finally started to let up.
  • I'm a bit more tired lately. It's definitely not as bad as the 1st trimester, but getting out of bed in the morning has been difficult. And staying up late is ROUGH. In the picture above where I'm in the black dress, Raul and I went to a work function for him that night. I was exhausted the entire next day!
  • Back pain. Not all the time, and not too bad, but if I'm on my feet for a while, it's hurting. I also wake up with mild back pain every morning, yet I'm still sleeping well!
  • Stretched abs. Getting up from the couch or from bed is a challenge. You know how it feels when you've done a bunch of sit-ups/crunches and you're exhausted and just have to do one more? That's how it feels when I try to get up. If Raul is around, he's nice enough to lend a helping hand or push.
MOVEMENTS: I am feeling her move constantly. I think she's starting to get cramped in there, so the movements feel much different that even a couple weeks ago. She's been kicking my ribs a bit, which I can't say is particularly enjoyable. Raul can undoubtedly feel and see her move.

CURRENT FAVORITE FOOD OR CRAVING: Nothing new this time around. I continue to eat an excess of ice cream, chocolate almond milk, and cereal. Vegetables are still working their way back into my diet.

CURRENT MOOD: Excited yet a bit stressed. Today I made a to-do list of everything I could think of that I'd like to get done in the next couple weeks before I get too big to do anything. Our next three weekends are filled, so Raul and I are trying to fit a lot of projects in during the evenings.

BELLY BUTTON STATUS:  A bit out, as you can see in the black dress picture above.

In other pregnancy news, I passed my glucose test which is such a relief. My blood pressure has been low (very low actually), so I'm hoping it stays that way. Today at my appointment I measured at 31 weeks, so hopefully she'll grow a bit and catch up to what the calendar says. Those measurements seem to change, one day you'll measure ahead, the next time you'll measure behind. An 11/11/11 baby would be pretty neat, but I think I'd rather have an 11/1/11 baby so that I don't have to wait around that extra week :-).

Raul and I went to our first class on Saturday--Childbirth 101. We have a 102 class, baby care basics class, and a breastfeeding class to go. Raul's been super supportive along the way, so he'll be sure to make it to all the classes with me.

That's it for now. See you in a few weeks with a bigger belly!
